Copyright Policy & DMCA Notice

Home decor is, at its core, a visual medium. StanzaNest shares ideas, design guidance, and room inspiration through imagery that helps people see possibilities for their own spaces. Because visual content is central to what we publish, image sourcing and copyright compliance are things we take seriously. This page covers two things: the good-faith approach StanzaNest takes to using third-party content, and the formal procedure for submitting a DMCA takedown notice under U.S. law.

Images at StanzaNest: Our Sourcing Approach

StanzaNest operates on the genuine belief that any third-party images, visual content, or excerpts appearing on this site are either in the public domain, covered by a Creative Commons license that permits the intended use, or fall within the fair use doctrine as defined under 17 U.S.C. § 107. It is never our intention to reproduce copyrighted material without proper authorization, and StanzaNest has no interest in infringing on the intellectual property rights of any creator or rights holder.

We also know that good intentions do not guarantee perfect sourcing. If you find something on this site that belongs to you, please reach out. We are committed to making that process easy.

A Note on the People Behind the Work

Every styled room photograph, every carefully composed flat lay, every image that inspires a reader to rethink their space, exists because a photographer, designer, or creative professional put real work into making it. StanzaNest respects that work. Intellectual property rights exist to protect creators, and we hold that principle in genuine regard. This page is here to give any rights holder a clear, low-friction path to having their concerns addressed.

What to Do If You Find Your Work Here

If you are a rights holder and you have located your image or creative work on StanzaNest, you have three options. Choose whichever works best for your situation:

  1. Request attribution. If you would like proper credit and a link to the original source, let us know and we will add it.
  2. Request a modification. If the image should be displayed differently, cropped, or used in a different context, we are willing to make those changes.
  3. Request removal. If you prefer that the content be taken down entirely, we will do so without argument.

There is no complicated process here. Send your request to copyright@stanzanest.com and we will take it from there.

This address is monitored specifically for image and copyright matters. Whether your request is informal or formal, this is the right starting point.

Our Response Commitment

StanzaNest is committed to responding to all rights holder requests within 72 hours of receipt. For formal DMCA takedown notices, we will review the notice promptly and take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the material in question while the matter is assessed.

Formal DMCA Takedown Procedure

StanzaNest complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. Copyright owners, or agents authorized to act on their behalf, may submit a formal written takedown notice requesting the removal or disabling of content alleged to be infringing.

To be valid and actionable under the DMCA, a takedown notice submitted to StanzaNest must include all of the following elements:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyrighted work that has allegedly been infringed.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, and information reasonably sufficient to permit StanzaNest to locate the material, such as the specific URL where the material appears on this site.
  4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit StanzaNest to contact the complaining party, including a mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Notices that omit any of the six elements listed above may not be processed. Submit completed DMCA takedown notices to:

dmca@stanzanest.com

Upon receipt of a valid notice, StanzaNest will review the claim and may remove or disable access to the identified material pending resolution.

Disputing a Content Removal

If content was removed from StanzaNest in response to a DMCA notice and you believe that removal was made in error or based on a misidentification, you may file a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

A valid counter-notification must include all four of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the person submitting the counter-notification.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared on StanzaNest prior to its removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that the submitting party has a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed.
  4. The submitting party’s name, address, and telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which their address is located, or, if the address is outside of the United States, any judicial district in which StanzaNest may be found, along with a statement that the submitting party will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original takedown notice or that person’s agent.

Submit counter-notifications to: dmca@stanzanest.com

On Misrepresentation

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be held liable for any resulting damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees, incurred by the alleged infringer or by StanzaNest. Notices submitted in bad faith will not be honored, and StanzaNest reserves the right to pursue appropriate remedies in such circumstances.

Repeat Infringement Policy

StanzaNest maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the access of users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyright.
